Image SEO: prepare images people and search engines can understand
A practical checklist for publishing useful, accessible images on websites.
The publishing checklist
Give files descriptive, readable names that match the subject. Write alt text for the image’s purpose and content; decorative images generally need an empty alt attribute in the HTML. Add useful surrounding page context, choose dimensions that fit the layout, and compress without making important details hard to see.
Choose a suitable format, reserve space to reduce layout shifts, and use responsive images where your site can offer appropriately sized sources for different screens. Accessibility comes first: do not put essential information only in an image, and do not use alt text as a keyword list.
What the optimizer prepares
Image Renamer helps prepare filenames and alt-text suggestions for review. You can resize images and convert them to WebP when those choices fit your site. These exports do not automatically edit the HTML or alt attributes on an external website, and no naming choice guarantees rankings.
A calm, repeatable workflow
Choose the page layout and image purpose, prepare dimensions and format, review filenames and alt text, then export. Keep the original available when you may need to edit or repurpose it. Processing is local in the normal Bulk Image Optimizer workflow.
